The mounts of the hand: meaning of each pad

Besides the lines, the palm has fleshy pads called mounts, each traditionally associated with a planet and a personality trait. A developed mount suggests a present trait; a flat one, a trait in the background.

    Mount of Venus: vital energy

It is the large pad at the base of the thumb, the one the life line encloses. It relates to vitality, warmth, and the capacity for enjoyment. A firm, wide Mount of Venus is interpreted as enthusiasm for life and attachment to bonds; a flat one, as a more contemplative energy.

The finger mounts: Jupiter, Saturn, Apollo, and Mercury

Below each finger there is a mount. Jupiter (below the index): ambition, leadership, and confidence. Saturn (below the middle): seriousness, responsibility, and sense of duty. Apollo (below the ring finger): creativity, expression, and appreciation of beauty. Mercury (below the little finger): communication, wit, and practical skill.

    Mount of the Moon: imagination

At the base of the palm, on the side opposite the thumb, lies the Mount of the Moon. It is associated with imagination, intuition, and sensitivity. A marked lunar mount is typical, according to tradition, in creative, dreamy people or those with a very rich inner life.

The mounts of Mars: courage and resilience

There are two mounts of Mars: the inner one (between Venus and Jupiter), linked to courage and initiative, and the outer one (on the edge of the palm, below Mercury), linked to resilience and persistence. Together they outline how a person faces challenges: with drive, with perseverance, or with both.
