How to read palms: palm reading lines step by step
Reading palm lines is simpler than it seems if you follow an order. This guide takes you step by step: first the overall shape, then the main lines, and finally the details.

Step 1: choose the right hand
Tradition distinguishes two hands with different meanings. The left hand represents innate potential: what you bring with you, your natural dispositions. The right hand reflects what you have built: your decisions, your current expression, and your evolution. A complete reading compares both; an initial reading usually starts with the left.
Step 2: locate the four main lines
With your palm open and fingers slightly apart, look for: the life line, curving around the base of the thumb; the heart line, horizontal at the top, below the fingers; the head line, horizontal across the center of the palm; and the fate line, vertical from the wrist toward the middle finger (not everyone has a marked one).
Step 3: observe the quality of each line
It is not only where each line is, but what it looks like: depth (deep lines suggest defined traits), length (long lines indicate traits present in more areas of life), continuity (breaks are interpreted as stages of change), and curvature (curved lines suggest expressiveness; straight ones, reserve or pragmatism).
Step 4: interpret as a whole
The most common beginner mistake is interpreting each line separately. Traditional palmistry reads the hand as a system: an intense heart line next to a straight head line tells a different story than each line alone. That is why a complete reading always cross-references the four lines, the mounts, and the hand shape.
