Life line palm reading: meaning and interpretation
The life line is the best known —and most misinterpreted— line in palmistry. It curves around the base of the thumb, and tradition relates it to vitality and major stages of change, not to how many years you will live.

The most widespread myth
Contrary to popular belief, a short life line does not mean a short life. No serious palmistry treatise claims that. The line speaks of energy quality, enthusiasm, and moments of transformation. People with short lines live long, full lives; length is interpreted as the intensity with which stages are lived, not their duration.
Depth and clarity
A deep, well-marked life line is associated with stable vitality and a strong connection to one's own body. A thin or shallow line suggests energy that is more mental than physical: people who live intensely but need to mind their rest. Breaks or chains are read as periods of transition or change of direction.
Curvature and the Mount of Venus
The wider the curve of the line around the thumb, the larger the Mount of Venus it encloses. A generous curve is interpreted as warmth, enthusiasm, and a taste for social contact. A tight curve, close to the thumb, suggests a more reserved person who rations their energy and values the closeness of a few.
Sister lines and special markings
Sometimes a second line appears parallel to the life line, called the sister line or Mars line: tradition considers it a sign of resilience and support in difficult times. Islands, crosses, or squares on the line are read as concrete episodes in the person's biography, always as symbols for reflection, never as verdicts.
